Doing something new without a mentor to guide you is just flat out rough.

I’ve spent the last month or so researching video cameras, microphones and tripods and I’ve got to tell you – I feel overloaded. When I made the decision to create Mobile Home Classroom, I had a sneaking suspicion this would be one of the mountains in my way.

I was right.

The big decision was whether or not to film in HD (High Definition). I have some ideas for lessons that will really go into detail to show you how to automate some of the time consuming tasks in this business, but they probably won’t work unless the picture is really clear.

It looks like the best way to deliver HD is to put it on a Blu Ray disc, but the discs are really expensive and would drive up the cost of the course. This could be a problem. I’m going to bet that prices will come down like they did with compact discs. Besides, if you don’t have an HD television right now, I’m willing to bet you’ll get one in the future.

With that decision out of the way, I finally pulled the trigger and placed an order with Amazon today.

Almost $2,000 worth of camera gear, microphones and tripods are on the way. Unfortunately, I waited until the last minute and I had to ship the gear to my parents house and hope it arrives before we head up to Lake City for our family vacation.

Wish me luck – if the gear doesn’t make it in time I’m going to miss a good opportunity for some interviews with my dad and my brother about the mobile home park business.
