The Good News: Quality That Will Blow You Away
Well, I have some good news and some bad news.
The good news is the lessons we have filmed so far have really exceeded my expectations. The sound quality is good and the video is just amazing. I think you are really going to be happy with our decision to film the lessons in High Definition (HD).
We just filmed a due diligence segment where we show you how to investigate the utilities in a park with a special tool and the clarity in the video is breathtaking.
The Bad News: HD Video = Editing Nightmare
Now for the bad news… Apparently, HD video is really tough to edit on a normal computer (and I have a pretty fast computer). I opened up a few of the clips in a trial version of video editing software and it looks like it’s going to take about 4 hours to edit 5 minutes of video.
At that rate, it will take a long time to edit the mountain of video we have filmed.
The Unexpected Roadblock
What I thought was going to be a big job is turning into a real bear. I wasn’t counting on this roadblock, but we have a lot of filming already done and it would be a shame to quit now.
It looks like I may have to buy some highly specialized computer equipment and software to get these lessons into your hands.
The Irony of Technology Costs
I can’t help but laugh.
When I spent a few thousand dollars on camera gear to film the course, I prayed I was making the right move. Now it looks like the camera gear is going to be far cheaper than the computer gear and video editing software.
Moving Forward: 35 Years of Knowledge Won’t Go to Waste
Well, I think I’m just going to bite the bullet.
We’ve already filmed a lot of lessons with processes and systems that took my family 35 years to perfect, so I’m off to do some research to find out what I need to make this program a reality.
