Well, I’ve been doing a ton of research and it turns out video editing is not for the faint of heart. It looks like I have two options to edit the video for Mobile Home Park Classroom: Apple or PC.
If I get a really fast PC, they are telling me the $1,600 software “might” work. Considering the computer itself is going to be about $2,300, that’s not very comforting. Apparently the video editing software on the PC is really finicky.
On the other hand, I’ve heard great things about Apple and their $1,000 video editing software. The only problem is… Apple computers are really expensive. By the time I get the computer, the software, and the hard drives to store all the video, I’m looking at about $5,000 in unplanned expenses for this project.
Supposedly, Apple is going to release some updated Macbook Pro laptops in January of 2010 that can handle video editing pretty well if you use a bank of external hard drives. I think I’m going to check them out before I commit one way or the other.
What do you think? Should I go with the Apple or the PC?
